Weeks after the Deepwater Horizon oil disaster first came to the attention of the nation and our President, anger is still leaking from Obama. Experts are not quite sure why anger is flowing out nor do they seem to have any idea how to stop it. Experts aren't even sure why anyone should care--since when has anger gushing from anyone ever been the answer to any problem?
The truth is, this wiseman: Obama, can't think of anything more useful than trying to portray just how angry he is. After all there's little anyone, beyond the handful of specialists that have the know-how to work with deep ocean wells, can do. Even they have never faced something like this--even though thousands of deep ocean wells have been drilled, this is the first where the blowout protector failed. No one has the experience to solve this--this is the sort of problem that requires trial and error to solve--I think most mature people understand that, and while they are disappointed by the failures to stop it and feel sick to their stomach thinking about the pollution that is resulting--those mature people would think: what constructive actions could I take to help?
Meanwhile, the irony is not lost--it is acceptable to villainize oil executive, while on the other hand, he hugs evil dictators like Hugo Chavez (they probably both donated to his campaign). Evil dictators need to be understood, to be engaged--while oil executives that take many necessary risks trying to satisfy our energy needs get castigation. By the way, Seems Hugo is now an oil exec--that is, given the nationalization of the Venezuelan oil industry--did anyone tell Obama? Better warn Hugo first; so he can prepare for Obama's wrath.
Obama's reaction is anything but presidential--he should be calling for prayers for the BP technologists and others involved; that they be given the insight and wherewithall to stop it (no matter what your religious beliefs--I hope you agree prayer will be as or more effective than anger).
However, I would be angry too. If I was the elected Messiah, but was truly powerless to address a great disaster that happened during my reign. Bush should have been angry at Hurricane Katrina. It would have been more effective politically, and it would have done just as much to help solve the problem.
